For some girls in St Maarten, children's carnival is a right of passage. Some participate because they love to dance, others participate with their schools or local organizations. The ones who like it, you'll find in upcoming carnivals, the others become spectators. I participated in children's carnival once, at the age of five, and after that I became a spectator. Now every year I takes thousands of photos of the islands' carnivals and post them to millions.
